Neillsville Improvement Corporation - 35 Years
Neillsville Improvement Corporation (NIC) is honored to be recognized by the Chamber as it celebrates 35 years of service to the community. The Neillsville Improvement Corporation was formed in 1989 as a non-profit organization with the goal of stimulating and strengthening the community and tourism through ongoing improvement projects.
NIC has been involved in many projects throughout the years. These include:
• Developing the Town Square Park and Gazebo
• Repaving Downtown Hewett St and installing Vintage Light Posts
• Establishing commemorative bricks for the Town Square
• Donating land for the Neillsville Public Library Expansion
• Assisting in getting a Daycare Facility in Neillsville
• Coordinating a First Impressions Program to plan for improvements
• Coordinating a Placemaking Exercise to obtain community input on creating public spaces
• Establishing Geocaching locations
• Obtaining funding from Listeman Foundation and installing 3 outdoor information Kiosks
• Coordinating the construction of Opelt Park in conjunction with the City of Neillsville and many wonderful partners. This is the first handicapped accessible park, which includes adult fitness stations, access to O’Neill Creek, and a picnic shelter donated by the Neillsville Lions Club.
Installed a kayak launch on the O'Neill Creek.
Neillsville Improvement Corporation’s current project is the O’Neill Creek Trail. NIC is the fiscal agent and project manager building a non-motorized recreational trail going East from the Opelt Park trailhead.
As an all-volunteer organization, we could not advance these economic development efforts without the amazing support of the community and its citizens. Your support helps ensure a healthy and prosperous future for Neillsville and the surrounding communities.
Thank you, Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce, for celebrating the 35 years of accomplishments of Neillsville Improvement Corporation and the entire community.
